Former USC wide receiver Jordan Addison was the Minnesota Vikings 2023 1st round draft pick, one of the few so far in Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s tenure that looks like a draft weekend win for the third-year general manager, who’s now lead three different Vikings’ drafts… with very little noticeable success.
After enjoying one of the best wide receiver rookie seasons in franchise history (see below), Addison’s 2024 campaign has not seen the same kind of success. Through five games played in 2024, Addison hasn’t been nearly as noticeable or proficient.
So far this season, the now 22-year-old has quietly amassed just 14 catches on 23 targets, for 1 touchdown. According to Pro-Football Reference, Addison’s success rate this season, when targeted, is an ugly 43.5%.

But here’s the thing… wide receivers like to catch footballs because the more footballs they catch, the more money they make. Here’s another thing, wide receivers cannot throw footballs to themselves. Thus, when they aren’t catching enough footballs for their liking, they tend to point fingers.
On Saturday morning, just a couple days after the Minnesota Vikings lost to the Los Angeles Rams, a game in which Jordan Addison caught only two passes (3 targets), for 22 yards, the sophomore wide receiver took to social media to voice his displeasure. Of course, it came in somewhat cryptic fashion. Not Stefon Diggs cryptic… but close.
For a team that started off 5-0, it sure does feel like the sky is suddenly falling, just two losses later. The fanbase is upset, reporters seem nervous, and now wide receivers are posting Instagram stories asking to be freed. Before you know it, our pets heads will be falling off.
In his first NFL season, Addison quickly proved very much worthy of his No. 23 overall selection. In eight games with Kirk Cousins at QB, Jordan hauled in 36 receptions on 52 targets, for a whopping 7 touchdowns (13.39).
Even after the Vikings final nine games after Kirk tore his achilles, production only slightly fell off (34 Rec, 56 Tar, 429 Yds, 3 TD, 12.62 YPR). In total, Addison finished with 70 receptions on 108 targets for 10 touchdowns.
