The Pittsburgh Steelers have no shortage of top-tier talent on their roster. After an offseason of multiple additions to an already talented roster, these are the 10 best Steelers heading into the 2024 season:
10. K Chris Boswell
It would be hard to leave Boswell off the list. He’s one of the best kickers in the game, and might be the best overall kicker in football right now.
9. RB Jaylen Warren
Warren makes the most out of his touches. He finished fifth in the NFL amongst running backs in yards per touch (5.5), and his game-breaking ability as a receiver and runner give him that extra notch to being the better running back on the team.
8. EDGE Alex Highsmith
Highsmith’s sack numbers may have gone down in 2023, but he was 12th in the NFL in hurries and one of the best No. 2 edge rushers on any team, and would be the No. 1 edge rusher on several teams.
7. DT Cam Heyward
Even as he enters what could be his final year with the Steelers, Heyward is still one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL.
6. WR George Pickens
While we all anticipate another receiver of some sort to be added to the roster in the coming weeks, Pickens is the unquestioned No. 1. He led the NFL in yards per reception a season ago, and will be relied upon more heavily without Diontae Johnson.
5. G Isaac Seumalo
Seumalo is one of the best guards in the NFL and is the anchor of Pittsburgh’s offensive line.
4. CB Joey Porter Jr.
Already, Porter is one of the best cornerbacks in football. He allowed the third-lowest reception percentage in the NFL of all cornerbacks with at least 100 coverage snaps, and allowed a passer rating of just 69.6.
3. LB Patrick Queen
The Steelers finally have an overall presence in the middle of the field that they have lacked for years. With a room also featuring Payton Wilson and Elandon Roberts, Queen leading the way with his speed, coverage ability, and nose for the football makes the Steelers one of the most complete defenses in the NFL.
2. S Minkah Fitzpatrick
No safety has more All-Pro selections than Fitzpatrick since 2019 (3), and he’ll be looking to have a bounce back year after having his 2023 season constantly interrupted by injuries.
1. EDGE T.J. Watt
No one is shocked that Watt is No. 1 on the list. He is coming off a year in which he led the NFL in sacks for the third time, becoming the first player in history to do so. Not only is he the best player on the Steelers’ roster, he’s arguably the best defensive player in the NFL. The Steelers’ defense may have other big names, but they will go as far as Watt will take them.
