WNBA Fans Lose It Over Caitlin Clark’s Powerful Quote ..Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has taken the WNBA by storm in her rookie season. The No. 1 overall pick has lived up to the hype and has transformed the once moribund Fever franchise into a playoff contender and a must-see TV.But she has also become a lightning rod to her WNBA peers, even to former players and basketball talking heads because of her stardom. Despite the target on her back, Clark has kept her cool.
“Obviously, this last year of my life, whether it was college or whether it was the WNBA, like I’ve definitely been in the spotlight,” she said before facing the Washington Mystics Thursday. “So I feel like just keeping my mind right at all times. It’s definitely hard when you’re 21, 22 years old, and you’re doing this, and everybody has an opinion on you.”
“But I think, for myself, what I’m most proud of is I’m really good at blocking that out like I don’t really care what people think of me.”
Clark said what matters to her is the opinion of her teammates and coaches, her family and friends.
“I don’t feel famous like I don’t feel like a celebrity,” Clark said despite becoming the face of the league. “So that’s not the way I approach my life, and I approach people in my life. I still go to the grocery store. I still go to go and buy candles at the store, like the fall spice candles. I still do all that stuff. I go and pick up food like people don’t do that for me.” On top of her basketball skills, her humble disposition in life has what made her relatable to even casual fans. “I feel like that’s why people can also connect with me because I feel like I’m real and authentic to them and try to be as normal as possible like I never try to seem superior to somebody,” Clark said. “I just try to be somebody that loves playing basketball and loves bringing people joy, and I feel very fortunate to do that.”
