Sky Sports pundit spots moment Kevin De Bruyne annoyed Erling Haaland in Man City win vs Brentford and Haaland slappled De Bruyne

Eagle-eyed Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood spotted a moment in Manchester City’s victory over Brentford when Erling Haaland was left annoyed by Kevin De Bruyne.

Manchester City became the only team to maintain a 100% start to the 2024/25 Premier League season when they defeated Brentford 2-1 on Saturday, with Liverpool slipping to a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. It was far from plain sailing, though, as Brentford took the lead after just 22 seconds when Yoane Wissa capitalised on a defensive calamity to nod in the opener.

The Bees were buzzing and had chances to sting City further in a chaotic opening period, with Ederson’s quick wits off his line preventing a thrashing.

Erling Haaland, of course, dragged the Blues back level in the 19th minute when he found the bottom corner despite getting the ball from Kevin De Bruyne with his back to goal.

The opposite end of the field was the source of Haaland’s second, as a long ball from Ederson sent him through to score, Pep Guardiola’s side largely controlled the second half after Rodri was introduced but there were some nervy final minutes as Brentford pushed for a leveller.

It was in these tense closing stages that Tim Sherwood noticed Haaland’s brief frustration with De Bruyne.Sherwood said on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday, at 4:57 pm: “They broke away there, three vs three, and Haaland just peeled away into the box.

“He thinks, last kick of the game, surely Kevin De Bruyne is going to find me in the middle of the pitch. And Kevin took it to the corner flag.

“It never even crossed his mind about the big man’s hat-trick, and rightly so. So, he doesn’t get his hat-trick, he looks so disappointed when you look at Haaland’s face there.”

Erling Haaland sets yet another Premier League record

Haaland might have shown a flash of annoyance over not getting the chance to score a hat trick in three games running but he will just have to settle for a remarkable nine goals in four games instead. In fact, the Norwegian sensation’s ridiculous scoring streak at the start of the season has already seen him claim yet another Premier League record.

Before his brace, the most goals scored after four games in a Premier League season was seven by Wayne Rooney. Haaland has smashed that by two.

He is now just one away from netting 100 in total for City and, if he keeps this up, who knows what he could finish the campaign with.
