Florida’s Thomas Haugh Sends Message After Teammate Enters Transfer Portal

After Florida won the 2025 men’s NCAA championship by outlasting the feisty Houston Cougars in the title game, the quest began for the school to attempt to repeat as national champions.

It has added an excellent point guard in Xaivain Lee, and he should be a capable replacement for Walter Clayton Jr., who is expected to go pretty high in the upcoming NBA draft. But the Gators are poised to lose a couple of key contributors, as forward Sam Alexis and guard Denzel Aberdeen are reportedly entering the transfer portal.

Teammate Thomas Haugh sent a message of gratitude to Aberdeen on social media. “Thankful for all the memories with u brother,” Haugh wrote.

Aberdeen played a supporting role for the Gators and averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 19.7 minutes a game. He has spent all three of his seasons in the NCAA with Florida.

While he hasn’t really had a chance to shine yet and isn’t an efficient scorer or outside shooter, he does possess ample athleticism at 6-foot-5, and next season will be big for him as far as establishing himself as a possible draft prospects.

He’s originally from the Orlando, Fla. area, and he was a three-star recruit coming out of high school.

The Gators showed quite a bit of grit in overcoming Houston to win it all. They weren’t able to play their preferred fast-breaking offense, and they trailed by 12 early in the second half, but they clawed back into the game with an assist from Aberdeen, who scored all seven of his points after halftime.
