Brown Pro announced disparture of their key player due too…..
Browns Pro Bowl defender seems enthusiastic about a possible trade..
The Cleveland Browns have already traded wide receiver Amari Cooper, and there is still speculation that more moves might be in their future.
One player who could be moved is edge rusher Za’Darius Smith, who is still in the first year of a two-year deal he signed with the Browns in the offseason. However, the 32-year-old could be a useful trade chip, and some have linked him to the Detroit Lions as they seek to replace the production of Aidan Hutchinson. That possibility was put to Smith on Thursday, and he certainly seemed intrigued by it.
“If I was to go to Detroit, I would like it, because I get to play Green Bay twice a year and the Vikings twice a year,” Smith told Scott Petrak of BrownsZone. “So, yeah, that’ll be big.
“I’m staying positive, but now that you say that, it might be a good look, a good feel for me.”
Smith made two Pro Bowls with the Green Bay Packers and another with the Minnesota Vikings, two teams the Lions are competing with in the NFC North. He can definitely be a bit mindful of revenge, so it’s no wonder the idea intrigues him.
Smith has 63 career sacks, though he only has three this year. A change of scenery could be what the 32-year-old needs, as the 1-5 Browns do not appear to be going anywhere. One Oregon player went the extra mile to interact with the fans during his team’s dominant win Friday against Purdue at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Ind. Initially that looked to be in response of the injury Aaron Jones’ suffered against the New York Jets. Days later, though, it appears the Vikings starting running back will go on Sunday vs the Detroit Lions. But what happens down the rest of the depth chart?
When Jones went down, Chandler worked the entire second half and it wasn’t a great showing, for the young backup. He carried the rock 14 times, managed just 30 yards on those carries. Yikes.Cam Akers trade likely means Ty Chandler’s snaps are dropping
Now, as the outlook for Aaron Jones’ health gets more and more optimistic, it seems clear that the Vikings weren’t as worried about who will replace Jones as RB1. Instead, it appears the recently acquired Cam Akers was brought in to battle for Minnesota’s RB2 role, after Chandler’s underwhelming start to the season.
