The victim was pinned between the truck and the building before being taken to a local hospital where he later died.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man who was critically injured Friday after a food truck hit him in a parking lot on Lebanon Pike has died, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police said preliminary investigation shows that 48-year-old Favian Ubense Cruz-Vargas was standing between the truck and a building directing the driver, 42-year-old Omar Martinez-Gonzalez, to ensure the truck did not hit the building.
Due to what police say is apparent operator inexperience on the part of Martinez-Gonzalez, Cruz-Vargas was pinned between the truck and the building. He was taken to Skyline Medical Center where he later died.
Police said Martinez-Gonzalez was arrested and charged under the Ricky Otts Act for not having a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance.
