Man City receive huge Rodri update after injury scare
Manchester City star Rodri has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a major knee injury in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Rodri went down after just 16 minutes in Sunday’s Premier League showdown at the Etihad, jarring his right knee inside his own box after tussling for the ball alongside Thomas Partey.
The Spain international fought back tears as he limped off the pitch with Mateo Kovacic brought onto replace him.
Rodri has been a hugely influential presence in City’s midfield with any long-term absence serving as a major blow to their plans for more silverware this season.
City’s worst fears have now been realised with ESPN reporting Rodri’s season is over having suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
Marca report the 28-year-old is currently travelling to Madrid to undergo further scans and will also visit several specialists before surgery.
While there is no exact timeline for how long the midfielder will be out for, the expectation is that he will miss the rest of the 2023-24 campaign.
