Erling Haaland breaks Rooney, Ronaldo and Messi as Record see more…
Manchester City hosted Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday at the Etihad as Erling Haaland’s brace took him to 99 goals for the club.
Manchester City moved top of the Premier League by three points after surviving a scare to beat Brentford.
City fell behind within 23 seconds as a defensive mix-up allowed Yoane Wissa to head in following some nice build-up from the kick-off for Brentford. The following 20 minutes were nervy and mistake-ridden, but as soon as Erling Haaland guided in a leveller it was all City.
Haaland was gifted a run on goal thanks to Ethan Pinnock’s pondering under a long Ederson ball and he made no mistake for his 99th goal in a City shirt. There wouldn’t be a third goal – denying him a third hat-trick in as many games to seal his ton of goals for City – but with nine goals in four games it feels only a matter of time until he marks a century of strikes.
