NEW ORLEANS— We’ve observed an alarming increase in juvenile despair and suicide since the epidemic, and a former Saints player says he wants to make a difference and stop the trend.

So he’s talking about what he went through when he was younger and organizing special events to aid teenagers and adults alike.
Saints fans are most likely familiar with the Delvin Breaux tale. He is a cornerback who has played for the Saints and the Canadian Football League.

You may recall the fractured neck he sustained during a kickoff return at McDonogh High. because prevented him from playing football at LSU, but it also surprised physicians because he was not crippled. Throughout that period, no one was aware of an injury that had broken something else: his spirit and desire to survive.

“I tried to commit suicide going through a lot of trauma as a kid, and then throughout my life I tried to commit suicide,” Breaux, who is 33 years old, said.

Delvin’s agony became severe when he was nine years old.

“There was a lot of physical violence going on in my family, and I couldn’t tell anybody. So now that I have the bravery and belief in myself, I know that there are other individuals out there that have gone through the same thing as me.”

Now that he has recovered, Delvin wants others to experience the same freedom. This weekend, he invites boys and girls aged 11 to 21 to join him and other mental health specialists for a free boot camp at Dillard University.
He is aware that mental health issues among kids have increased since the epidemic, but he also recognizes that our hurricanes and crime contribute to this trend.

“I usually think about my nine-year-old self and tell him, ‘You were courageous. I am pleased you survived. I’m pleased you made it through it. “Now it’s time for you to tell your story and let the world know,” Breaux stated.

Delvin recently began coaching at Booker T. Washington. Students believe it’s awesome that a former NFL player is theirs.

“Did you play for the Saints? What? Is this true?” he said when the pupils inquired. “I am like, ‘Yes. Yes. ‘So, you’re going to train us? And I am like, ‘Yes.’ And they were like, ‘So, you’re going to give us all the NFL exercises and workouts?’ And I’m like, ‘Yes, I am here. I am real. “I’m here for you all.”
