Test riders gave the Principality Stadium circuit their seal of approval ahead of this weekend’s FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff.
Former GB international Ben Barker joined Connor Mountain, Joe Thompson, Freddy Hodder and Luke Harrison on track for a series of test races.
The riders gave the 2024 FIM British Speedway GP track surface the thumbs up with the track building team set to continue maintaining and working on the circuit to ensure it’s in tip-top condition for Saturday’s event.
Luke Harrison, a young British rider from Scunthorpe said: “It was really smooth. Obviously it’s good riding in Cardiff in general with a big stadium. But the track was real smooth. It had a bit of dirt on it too. So I think the GP boys will be pretty happy with it. The track was pretty much perfect the whole way around. I can’t complain about anything really. It was absolutely perfect.”
Former GB international, Ben Barker said: “It’s looking great. I rode here many years ago as a reserve. The track seems to have come on over the years, and it’s a lot better than I remember it. Cardiff is the spectacle of the Grand Prix series. It’s the one I definitely watch. This is the one I look forward to. So it will be good racing, I’m sure.”
Freddy Holder, a Young British rider for Berwick said:
“It was really nice, really smooth. The shale is nice. I was just putting some laps in. The goal is to one day be in that meeting.”
